Research Manager – Market Research (Investments & Pensions)

Boring Money was launched in 2015 by our Founder, Holly Mackay, to help ‘normal people’ to make better choices with their savings, investments and pensions.
Last year we had 1 million consumers on our site, using our Best Buy tables to find ISAs and pensions, or our Triage Quiz to help them find the right product or advice for them. We added advice tables and an Adviser Directory, which help consumers to pick the right digital adviser or individual traditional adviser for their needs.
Our readers are central to everything we do, providing ratings, reviews and feedback which enable TripAdvisor-type insights to readers who want customer insights as well as our opinions and ratings. Content is King and our audience is engaged.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Research Manager with qualitative research experience, and experience in and/or a genuine interest in financial services research.
Boring Money has a well-established B2B research and insights practice, helping the industry to understand what investors and pension holders want. We produce several subscription products, publish around six reports a year and deliver bespoke projects for a wide range of investment industry brands.
The credibility of our business is built on the quality of our research and understanding of the sector in which we operate.
We are looking for someone to join a small and growing team to manage and deliver qualitative bespoke research projects.
In addition to bespoke research, you may have the opportunity to support on other work across the research team, including reports and subscription products.
Some of our projects are mixed methods, so while qualitative research capabilities are core to the role, a mixed methods qual/quant background / interest will be an added bonus.
We are looking for someone with confidence and adaptability, who loves speaking to consumers and telling a story. You will work with a team of other researchers to deliver high quality projects, drawing on a range of research methods.

The role:
Managing research projects efficiently within agreed deadlines
Delivering high-quality insights that address client objectives
Client liaison, shaping research approaches to meet needs
Research design and set up, including writing discussion guides
Manage and conduct qualitative fieldwork, including in-depth interviews, focus groups and running online qualitative research panels
Support across other research projects, reports and initiatives
Act as a credible expert to external clients in the investment industry
Business development support, e.g. costings, proposals
Support junior researchers
ABOUT YOU
We are looking fora Research Manager with qualitative expertise, OR a mixed methods qual/quant researcher.
You are:
An experienced project manager, who feels comfortable managing projects independently, juggling different demands and deadlines
Confident working across all areas of qualitative market research, including design, fieldwork and reporting (with support from a director)
Happy to take the lead, proactive and dependable
Someone who likes to delve into a client brief or issue, collaborating with colleagues and coming up with creative approaches to client objectives
Confident in front of clients, with excellent client handling skills
Familiar with the Market Research Society Code of Conduct
Someone that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
Interested in investments, pensions and consumer views in this area
Hardworking, with an excellent eye for detail, and happy to muck in!
DESIRABLE
Experience of financial services research, such as investments and pensions
Understanding of the investment and pensions industry
Comfortable working with quantitative research data

We are looking for someone to join a small and growing team to support the delivery of bespoke research projects. Some of our projects are mixed methods, so while qualitative research project management is the core of the role, you will also have the opportunity to support a wide range of research activities.
We are looking for someone with confidence and adaptability, who is highly organised and well-motivated. You will work with a team of other researchers to deliver high quality projects that draw on a range of research methods.
The role:
Working with colleagues to ensure smooth and successful running of qualitative research projects, including set up, recruitment, scheduling, pre-tasks, incentive handling, and other support as projects require
Leading the process for recruitment of participants to take part in a range of qualitative studies, managing internal and external recruitment sources
Providing ongoing qualitative community / panel management, as well as project management support across ad hoc projects
Writing appropriate recruitment specifications
Liaising with recruitment partners, ensuring they are well-briefed, organised, motivated, and meet our and our clients’ needs
Continually improving our recruitment and other processes
Ensuring all projects you are involved in are run to a high standard and meet MRS requirements
Supporting the response to client briefs and project costing
Liaising with finance colleagues to ensure effective incentive handling
Acting as a point of contact for the client, providing project updates
Providing ongoing operational support to the Research Director, the Head of Research and the broader team
Working across teams on general projects to support the business as a whole

Experienced with the project management side of qualitative market research projects of different types
Knowledgeable about core project management techniques

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Technical Content Manager to join our dynamic team, reporting to the Head of Customer Solutions. This role is critical in maintaining and updating our comprehensive financial content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and clarity for our users.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update website content about investment platforms
Update published information on various financial providers
Ensure comparison tables are current and accurate
Liaise with the research team to source input for these comparison tables and provider review pages
Support the research team in maintaining the charging calculator
Support the content team with fund, ETF and investment trust content updates
Provide technical input for website content, direct mailers, and other materials
Review retail and workplace product offerings
Meet with providers to ensure accurate content representation
Collaborate with content teams to implement updates related to taxation, pension contributions, and regulatory changes
ABOUT YOU
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum 2 years working in an investment platform, fund management, or workplace pension provider
Strong understanding of investment vehicles, tax wrappers, and DIY platforms
Core technical knowledge of investment and pension products
Familiarity with regulatory environments
Understanding of various charging models and ability to calculate total costs
Excellent writing skills with ability to create clear, accurate, and informative content
Capability to assess platforms or products against specific criteria
Ability to work independently with tight deadlines
Genuine curiosity and interest in fintech and digital wealth platforms
